Industrial Revolution
People began losing their jobs in Britain because the machines were taking over so they resorted to stealing and they got caught and were sent to America but America did not want them and started the American civil war. More and more people began losing their jobs because of the machines so there were more and more prisoners/convicts and the prisons in Britain began overflowing. So they shipped the convicts to Australia and Tasmania so they had more room and the machines kept working in Britain. -
Pattern of settlement
1829- Britain colonised the whole of Australia after taking NSW.
1825- The border of NSW was moved west so WA covered a third of the mainland continent.
1825- 1836- NSW took over most of Australia's land.
1863- The colonies borders had been finalised. Australia had six different colonies with six different administrators.
(The Northern Territory was part of New South Wales between 1825-1863. It was part of SA between 1863 and 1911
1861- There were alot of people living in Victoria.
