Feb 17, 1846 The colony of North Australia was proclaimed. Apr 15, 1847 The Colony of North Australia was revoked and returned to New South Wales Jul 1, 1851 Victoria was proclaimed a colony. Jan 1, 1856 Van Diemans Land was renamed Tasmania. May 1, 1858 The western border of South Australia was onfirmed at the 132nd meridian of longitude east. Jun 6, 1859 Queensland was proclaimed a colony. Jun 3, 1862 The western border of Queensland was moved. Jul 6, 1863 The part of New South Wales that was north of South Australia wa annexed by South Australia. These borders remained until after Federation.
