    Chinese Civil War Begins

    This War began during 1927 all the way to 1950. It started with the Shanghai Massacre and the collapse of the First united Front in 1927. In August 1945 the Japanese surrender and the Chinese Communist Party and the Nationalists agreed to end all ware forts and agreed to be at peace. At the start of 1946, the two went back at war for wanting control over China.

    Cold War Begins
    After World War II ended, the United States and the Soviet Union were the Worlds strongest nations. They had lots of different ideas about economics and government. The Cold War began in Europe.
  • Marshall Plan

    Marshall Plan
    The Marshall Plan provided $13 billion for rebuilding Europe. The plan helped western Europe make a rapid recovery from the war and it also helped preserve political stability.
  • Berlin Blockade

    Berlin Blockade
    -The U.S and Britain made a proposal for establishing a new currency. This caused economic chaos in the Soviet Union. The Soviets responded on June 24th by cutting off all road, rail and canal links between West Germany and west Berlin.
    -This began the Berlin Blockade. Stalin managed to cut off all of the land and water routes however the air was still available. This began the Berlin Airlift.

    Korean War

    The Korean War began, on June 25 1950, when about 75,000 soldiers from the North Koreans Peoples Army invaded across the 38th parallel in an attempt to occupy North Korea. This invasion was the first military based action of the Cold War. Month later American soldiers had entered the war on South Korea's behalf. The worse that they feared would be a bigger war with Russia and China, World War III. In July 1953, the Korean War came to an end.

    U-2 Spy Incident
    The U-2 incident was one occurrence where the Soviets shot directly at a U.S soldier. They called this flight an aggressive act.
  • Berlin Wall is Built

    Berlin Wall is Built
    August 13 1961, the Communist Government built a barbed wire and concrete wall between East and West Berlin. The purpose for the wall was to keep Western totalitarians from entering East Germany. The Berlin Wall stood till November 9th, 1989.
  • Cuban Missile Crisis

    Cuban Missile Crisis
    ON October 14,1962 a U-2 Spy Plane flying over Cuba discovered nuclear missile sites under construction. President John F. Kennedy explained his decision to make a naval blockade around Cuba and made clear that the United States was prepare to use military force if necessary. This decision was made to offset the threat.
  • Fall of the Berlin Wall

    Fall of the Berlin Wall
    The Berlin Wall stood ill November 9, 1989. The head of the East German Communist Party announced that the citizens of German Democrat Republic could cross the border "wall" whenever they wanted to. Chaos broke that night, crowds swarmed the wall.
  • East and West Germany Reunite

    East and West Germany Reunite
    Less than a year later after the Fall of the Berlin Wall, East and West Germany come together as whats known as "Unity Day".
