    -After Germany surrendered in the war, they returned to see their country in ruins. The land was occupied by other nations and their infrastructure was in ruins.
    -During this event, European powers were trying to figure out what to do with Germany, and Germany was rebuilding.
    -Important:May 8, 1945- Marked the end of the war for Germany, and they started to rebuild.
    - Key Groups:United States,Britain,France, Germany, and the Soviet Union.
    -Key Outcome:Germany was split into West and East Germany

    Chinese Revolution
    -It was caused by resumption of open war between the Communist Party of China and the Kuomintang (KMT),
    - During the event, Mao Zedong would revolt against the KMT and eventually turn China into a communist state.
    -1950- When Mao Zedong captured the Hainan Island, it brought the end of the revolution.
    -Key groups- Communist Party of china, and the KMT.
    -The outcome of the event was the China turned into a communist state.

    -After WW2, both the USA & USSR wanted more power, they were trying to make European countries into their forms of government. created. An alliance of countries on eastern borders that stood as a buffer between the Western world and communism.
    -A treaty was formed called NATO, and to counter that the USSR made the Warsaw pact.

    -The outcome saw the dismantle of the Warsaw pact and the Berlin wall fall.

    -The USSR was trying force negotiation of the distribution of Germany
    -During this event, the UK, US,and France started to bring supplies through the air with airlifts.
    -Dates: May 12 1949-The Allies agreed and the Blockade was lifted on
    -Key groups- USSR, Germany, France, Great Britain, USA
    -Outcome- The blockade was lifted
  • Marshall Plan

    Marshall Plan
    -The cause for this event was Europe after WW2. They were completely destroyed after it and the US was trying to offer aid.
    -During the event, the United States was assisting European economic recovery with direct financial aid. Military assistance to Greece and Turkey. They provided humanitarian assistance as well.
    -Dates: 1945-1951; when this event was on-going.
    -key individual: Harry Truman and George Marshall.
    -The outcome was the many European states were able to recover quick.

    -The cause was that after World War 2, Korea was split into North and South. North was communist and South was a democracy. The north wanted the whole country to unite into one.
    -During this event, North Korea invaded the south, but the south was able to hold up because they were backed by the United States.
    -Dates: June 1950 to July 1953
    -Key Groups: North Korea, South Korea, and the USA
    -Outcome: They stayed into two separate countries but their border was a demilitarized zone.

    -The cause was Castro wanting to overthrow the oppressive Dictator named Fulgencio Batista.
    -During this event, Soviet Union sent missiles and troops to support Castro because he wanted a communist government. The USA opposed this and it was a standoff between the USA and Soviet Union.
    -Important date is 1959 when Castro was starting to rebel.
    -Key Individuals:Fidel Castro, USSR, and USA
    Outcome: Caused more tension between the USA and Soviet Union.

    -The cause for this event was that the exiles wanted to overthrow Fidel Castro.
    -During the event, the exiles were met with heavy fire because Castro knew they were up to something. Ultimately the event was considered a failure.

    - Outcome: This invasion was a failure.

    -The cause of this event was the split between East and West Germany. West Germany was apart of the democratic side and East Germany was apart of the Eastern bloc.
    -During this event, a wall was built to separate West from east. This was because too many people were fleeing from East Germany.
    -August 12, 1961: was when the wall was built

    -After the fall of the USSR, the wall was taken down and Germany became a whole.

    -The cause of this event was when a U-S spy planes discovered that Cuba was building missile sites, and more USSR ships were arriving. This caused mass hysteria in the USA.
    - During this event, tensions between the USA and USSR rose to their highest, which almost caused a Nuclear War.
    - Dates: 1972- When the USSR reach the same nuclear capabilities as the USA, which is when their tension was at the highest.

    -The cause of this event was Nationalist trying to bring the country as a whole, under a communist party.
    -During the event, the USA stepped in for the South Vietnamese. The USA lost their people's support and eventually lost the war.
    -Dates: The war lasted from 1959 to April 30, 1975
    -Key individuals: Ho Chi Minh
    Outcome: The USA lost and people used this war as an example of what not to do.

    -The cause of this war was the USSR fearing the loss of communist proxy in Afghanistan.
    -During this event, it was a nine year conflict involving the Soviet
    Union, supporting the Marxist government, against the Islamist Mujaheddin Resistance
    -Dates: 1979-1989, which was how long the war lasted
    -key groups: Marxist group in Afghan and the Mujaheddin Resistance
    -Outcome: The sovirts withdrew from the battle and negotiated with the Mujaheddin.

    -The cause of this event was a protest in the People's Republic of China (PRC) in 1989.
    -During this event, troops with assault rifles and tanks fired at the demonstrators and those trying to block the military's advance into Tienanmen Square. Many students were killed a result
