    The plan when America helped rebuild some 18 European countries after WWII.
  • Berlin Blockade

    Berlin Blockade
    the Soviet Union's leader, Joseph Stalin, had a piece of Germany and wanted to force the Allied control of the rest of Germany out. So Stalin blocked the allies railways, roads, and canal access. But the Allies did not give up; instead they had food airlifted in to the allies stuck in the blockade and eventually stalin removed the blockade. The blockade marked one of the first major crises of the Cold War.
  • Korean War

    North Korea and South Korea was split up and the U.S. had control of South Korea and North Korea was controled by a Communist party. North Korea invaded South Korea and due to the Truman Doctrine, the U.S. had to help them try to get rid of the communist party. This was one of the first wars that the U.S. lost.

    North Korea and South Korea signed a stillfire, but this was the first time the U.S. had not been able to totally get rid of communism

  • Berlin Wall

    Berlin Wall
    The wall was created not to keep West Berlin occupants in West Berlin, but to keep East Berlin occupants out of free West Berlin.
  • Cuban Missile Crisis

    Cuban Missile Crisis
    The Soviet Union had control of Cuba and was creating nuclear launch bases. When the U.S. heard of this, President Kennedy created a plan for a blockade, but was assasignated before it was carried out. President Lyndon Johnson carried out the blockade and after 13 days, the Soviet Union agreed to dismantle the nuclear bases only if the U.S. dismantled some of their bases in Europe.

    The U.S. forces withdrew their troops, but that did not end the war, instead the fighting keep going until South Vietnam fell to communiam.
