    Indian raids had caused much conflict between them and the Whites. In Autumn the Arapahos established a Fort, 40 miles from Fort Lyon. Despite the Amrican flag, the troops arrived. They killed about 200 Indians and about two-thirds of them were women and children. The result of the Battle ended in a Union Victory.

    In October, 1867, the Indian Peace Commission signed 3 peace treaties at Medicine Lodge. One treat was made with the Kiowa and Comanche, the second confederated plains Apache with Kiowa and the third negociated with Cheyanne and Arapaho.

    In this Treaty, the U.S recognized the Black hills as a part of the Sioux reservation. It also agreed that it gave the Lakota ownership of the Black Hills. They would "divide and conquer" the Ponca lands and the Reservations.

Mackenzies troops went to the edge of the Canyon to plan a surprise attack, but could not find a path down. They lid down the Canyon side and attacked and Poor Buffalo and his Indians couldn't resist and many Indians fled.

They were to cros the River at 8am on the next morning, but the chance of a surprise attack was lost when an Indian saw them and told his chief. They surrounded all but Custer and there was a bloody battle that the Bighorn river was about red.

    The Nez Perce Battle was a big conflict. It was a conflict between Nez Perce and the Native Americans. The War included many people who fled away including Sitting Bull who fled to Canada to avoid bing captured after the Battle of little BigHorn.

    Geronimo was riding into the Apache Camp and got off his horse and he was pretty much surrounded. He had a happy and bright look on his face as he was walking over to Surrender. They ordered him and his people to be shot to Death. He died in the Shooting.

    This all started when a Lakota man refused to give up his gun because he paid a lot for it and then a shot accidentally went off and ended up starting a whole battle in which around 150 men, women and children were killed and about 41 were wounded.
