Lincoln was the only candidate against slavery. No southern states voted for him and he still won. -
Attack on Ft. Sumter 1861
The south fired upon Ft. Sumter. The fort out of food and ammunition and outnumbered surrendered. Lincoln called for 75,000 volunteers the war began.
