    Sectionalism was mainly about the event of slavery and how the South wanted slavery and the North did not. The Northerners were against slavery and did not want it to expand, while the Southerners wanted to continue slavery to expand. There was many other reasons why the North and South did not agree on their way of life which had also caused sectionalism.

    Uncle Tom's Cabin was an anti-slavery novel that was the most successful in the North and in the South it was banned because it went against what slave owners thought of slavery, they felt offended.
  • The Dred Scott Decision

    The Dred Scott Decision
    Dred Scott was a slave and wanted his freedom because his slave owner had died and had taken Scott to a state were slavery was not allowed. While he wanted to get his freedom, his owner took him to a non-slave state, in which he was not able to gain his freedom.

    John Brown wanted to end slavery and led a revolt against Harper's ferry and killed many humans. Northerners admired him and some Southerners disagreed with his choice of actions and others agreed with the choice that he made.

    The Election of 1869 was the election for President. There were two democratic candidates, John C. Brekenridge and Stephen Douglas, one republic candidate, Abraham Lincoln, and one union candidate, John Bell. Abraham was winning the election and most support was coming from the North.

    Lincoln’s choices after his General voiced concerns about Fort Sumter were attack, provision, or surrender. But the confederate leader beat them to it and ordered their soldiers to attack the ship, initially causing the Civil War. Because of the attack on Fort Sumter 4 other states joined the confederacy. After this Lincoln decided to to call for people for the war soldiers to come and help kill.
