In 1965, the Voting Rights Act was signed by Lyndon B. Johnson. This act prohibits racial discrimination when voting.

On October 2, 1967, Thurgood Marshall was sworn in to the U.S. Supreme Court as the first black Supreme Court associate justice. Discrimination is coming to an end.
