  • KKK

    The KKK was a white supremacist group. They were responsible for harrassing and using acts of terrorism against blacks.
  • Brown vs Board of Education

    Blacks argued about segregation within the schools. It was accepted but the school classified it as separate but equal.Whites had nicer learning facilities than blacks.
  • Rosa Parks

    Rosa Parks refused to give up her seat to a white man on the bus. She was arrested for doing this. This started several peacfull protest of the civil rights movement.
  • CIvil Rights Act of 1957

    Act that banned racial segregation. It had more symbolic meaning than legal meaning. It showed support for the blacks.
  • Greensboro sit in

    Protest in which four black college students sat in the white only section in a store. They demanded service and sat their until they would be served. This was one of many peacefull protests
  • Freedom Rides

    Protests directed at desegregation of buses in the south. Blacks refused to ride the bus and rode together to their workplace. This showed blacks would no longer be bullied in certain parts of everyday life
  • Civil Rights Act of 1964

    An act that banned discrimination in public places towards a certain race, religion, nationalit, or gender. This act made America a more one sided country.
  • Voting Rights Act

    Act that banned literacy tests and send election officials into the South to help blacks vote. This increased the number of black voters in the south.
