    This court case ment that discimination in schools is illigal and violated the equal protection clause. Unlike the previos case the was plessy v. Board of education that said seperate but equal facilities. This was caused because Linda Brown a student wasn't allowed in a school because of her black skin. This case ended with a win for blacks and it wasn't enforced to well.

    Rosa Parks was commuting home from work on a thursday. Many people didn't really like to ride the bus becaus they thought the blacks in the back policy was to demanding. She sat near the front and a white man wanted the seat. She refused to get up and she got arrested and black people boycotted the busses causing the company to loose money.

    President eisenhower passed the law and the law created a civil rights commission and empowered prosecutors to obtain court injustifications.
  • President Eisenhower orders troops at Little Rock, Arkensas for desegregation in schools

    Nine black students we not allowed in school because governor put troops around in. President Eisenhower put frderal troops around protecting the students.

  • Freedom Riders attacked

    The freedom riders rode round in public busses from D.C. and rode around in the south. CORE was behind starting the bus rides to show that segregated bus rides were unconstitutional. The bus was full of blacks and whites.

  • Riots over black student James Menedith enrolls at Ole Miss

    Riot occured because black student James Menedith enrolled in Ole Miss school. The overnment sent 31,000 troops to help stop the rioting.

  • Medgar Evers civil rights leader assassinated Jackson, Mississippi

    Medgar Evers was a civil rights leader. Medgar Evers encuraged many african americans to vote. He was later killed in his driveway in Jackson, Mississippi.
  • 250,000 Americans march on Washignton for civil rights

    250.000 people marched on washington for jobs and freedom. While there Martain Luther King Jr. Gave the "I Have a Dream" speach.

  • President Johnson signs Cilvil rights act

    President Johnson signed civil rights act. This ended segregation in public places and banned discrimination in employment.

    This march was so many black people could register to vote. Many angry white people tried to stop them. 300 people registered out of 15,000.

    Before being a supreme he was a lawyer with the highest success rate in arguing. This was a huge moment for blacks showing that the fight is going somewhere.
  • Samuel Hammond Jr., Delano Middleton, Henry Smith students killed when highway patrolmen fire on protesters

  • THe Rev. Dr. Martain Luther King Jr. assassinated

    The king was shot while he was on his balcony in suite 306 at lorraine motel. He had recived many death threats and this one killed him. He was rushed to the hospital when he was considered dead at 7:05 pm. This was a huge imact because he was many peoples leader and hero.
