  • Brown vs Board of Education

    Brown wanted to stop segregation in schools. He won the case.

  • Emmett Till

    An African American was murdered because he was flirting with a white married women. He was visiting his uncle in Mississippi from Chicago. His mother, back in Chicago, did an open casketed so the world could see what they did to her son.

  • Bus Boycott

    Rosa Park refused to remove herself to let a white person sit where she was sitting. She got arrested and was the first women to resisted.

  • Little Rock School

    The first school in the south that combined both colors.

  • March on Birmingham

    First march that colored kids did. Adult African Americans didn't want to do it because they would lose their jobs. The kids were arrested.

  • March of Washington

    attended by 250,000 people, the nation's first largest demonstration. It was the march that made the Civil Rights Acts happen.

  • Civil Rights Acts of 1964

    This act now made all forms of discrimination illegal. It was motivated by the March of Washington.
