The first school in the south that combined both colors. -
March on Birmingham
First march that colored kids did. Adult African Americans didn't want to do it because they would lose their jobs. The kids were arrested. -
March of Washington
attended by 250,000 people, the nation's first largest demonstration. It was the march that made the Civil Rights Acts happen. -
Civil Rights Acts of 1964
This act now made all forms of discrimination illegal. It was motivated by the March of Washington.
