14th amendment was created to guarantee African Americans citizenship and for them to have privileges.

National Association for the Advancement of Colored People. Its important because this is the group that stood behing the blacks and helped them in the civil rights movment. -

harry truman pledged his support for the civil rights movment and he was the first president to address the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP).

In Montgomery, Alabama, Rosa Parks was put in jail for refusing to give up her seat on a public bus to a white man, which was a violation of the city's racial segregation laws. its important because this is the event that all kind of started the civil rights movment and kind of pushed the african americans over the edge. -

it happened on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial in Washington, D.C.. it was the African American civil rights movement where Martin Luther King, Jr., speaked to about 250,000 people attending the March on Washington for Jobs and Freedom.
It was imprtant because it was were he gave his "i have a dream.." speech. -
afro american unity
malcolm X created the Organization of Afro-American Unity and it had moved increasingly in the direction of socialism. but he had different veiws than martin luther king and said "do with any means nessacary." he also created black power movment too.

President Lyndon Baines Johnson signs the Voting Rights Act, which guaranteed African Americans the right to vote. The bill made it illegal to impose restrictions on federal, state and local elections that were designed to deny the vote to blacks. its important because it was one of the goals that was reached by the civi rights movements. -
assasination of martin luther king
martin luther king was one leader in the civil rights movment and he did alot and gave many ideas for protesting. he wanted non-violent protests.
hes important because after he died the civil rights movment kinda began to crumble.
