    The GMD and the CCP had control of the southern regions, they have gained it through political dominance and military achievments but they knew they had to conquer China entirely for the republic to function. The Northern Expedition is the Military campaign to gain control over China.

    After the United Front gained control over the Northern Regions the Guomindang leaders tarted to worry about communism popularity. They began to persecute, kill and arrest communists in cities and villages, this movement took the life of 250,000 people, the CCP was forced to flee into the Jiangxi Mountains.
