People's Republic of China established
On October 1st, 1949, the People's Repubic of China was established. The Chinese citizens were split into four seperate social classes which were the workers, the peasants, the petite bourgeoisie, and the national-capitalists. -
China gets involved in the Korean War
In 1950, China got involved in the Korean War. Due to this involvement, the government introduced the "Three Antis Campaign" which was a movement against corruption, beaurocracy, and waste. People who broke the Three Antis would be shot. -
Transition to socialism/ First Five Year Plan
The Five Year plans of the People's Republic of China were social and economic development opportunities to help acheive a strong foundation of communism in China. -
The Great Leap Forward
The Great Leap Forward was Mao's way to try and modernize China's economy. -
Split the the Soviet Union
Because of the numerous debates between the two largest communist parties of Russia and China, in 1960, the Soviet Union and China split. -
Cultural Revolution
Mao started an event which became known as the Cultural Revolution to reassert his authority over the Chinese government.
