After world war 2 the world was becoming more industrial, China had a Five Year Plan to increase industry and develop agricultural production. (1953-57)

The First Five-Year Plan was the beginning of China's rapid industrialization, and it is still regarded as having been enormously successful. A strong central governmental apparatus proved able to channel scarce resources into the rapid development of heavy industry.
