    The mongols showed cultural change when they brought about western instruments, new arts, religion, crops, and culture. They improved china by introducing new roads, helping with the building of the grand canal, and increasing trade realtions.

    Ming Dynasty
    Under the Ming Dynasty, the capitol city changed due to the locastion of the new capital being more convinient for trade. The Ming dynast was known for its trading and pots, and it stretched from the western coast to middle China.

    Qing Dynasty
    The Qing dynasty had the last emperess Cixi. The downfall of the emperors was the western trade influences that brought about wars.

    The British wanted China to convers to Western styles, and used Opium, and addictive drug, to lead to a downfall in Chinese power. This also gave britain a big trade advantage over China. Cixi was the wife of the emperor, and she took over for 47 years after the revolt. The last ever emperor was Xundi Puyi.

    The Taiping rebellion occured because china wanted controll of its people back. The Qing dynasty and britain/france led to the defeat of the rebellion. The Boxer Rebellion was when people started killing Chinese Christians. Sun Yat-sen came to power and ousted the Qing dynasty and became the first president of the republic of China.

    The Sui Dynasty built the Grand Canal, and their leader Wendy was responsible for their downfall.

    Tang Dynasty
    Buddhism migrated to China during the Tang rule. the Tang Dynasty ruled with aristocratic families and warlords instead of emperors. In China, the Tang Dynasty is considered the golden age of literature.
  • Song Dynasty

    Song Dynasty
    There was really no dominant dynasty during this time due to northern invaders, but the song dynasty introduced the concept of the universal-man, which is someone who had many combined qualities. They brought about neo-confucianism which teaches a rigid system of obligation and obedience.
