    The lifestyle of the poeple hadn't changed since 500 B.C. until the 1500's. The Silk Road, which was controlled by the Mongol Empire could no longer be used by Europeans. People in Central Asia had to change lifestyle and trade by boat.

    With the development of gunpowder, settled people were able to defeat the Steppes. This stopped many nomadic people, who chose to become setlled. These people started to conquer the area.

    The czars of Russia took, conqueredn and colonized in Central Asia. This movement began north and moved south. The Russians built many railroads while they were ther.

    Soviets took over after the Russian Revolution in 1917. Soviets drew new political boundries and the Central Asian countires were now called republics. The Soviets built large irrigation systems and had cotton become the only crop in the region.

    The Soviet U{nion collapsed in 1991. Once this happened, Central Asian republics declared independence.
  • Dropped Conflict

    Dropped Conflict
    Tang and Tibet empires fought for the area until 821 where they signed a treaty, which created a fixed border between the two countries.
