Taiping Rebellion
The rebellion spred throughgout China. With it, a dispute of religion and lands starded, decreasing the power of the militaries and the government. With this rebellion, the Warlord era started in the 1920´s -
Economical, social and political weakness
During the Manchu Dinasty, peasants lived in a very poor condition. Taxes were high and the influence of European countries was really strong. -
Lack of unity
China was divided. Because of that, warlords started to increase the nationalism and desire of get rid of foreign influence. Warlords became more powerful. -
The overthrown of the Mnachu Dynasty
The dynasty ended with the Double Tenth revolution. With it, China turned into a republic and the government lost the control of its military forces and territory. -
May Fourth Movement
With the creation of the CCP party, the movement against warlords, Chinese culture and foreign forces (Japan) started. China wanted to be proud and independent again. Later, in 1922, the alliance between the CCP and the GMD started to unite China. -
First United Front
Both parties, CCP and GMD wanted to unify China, but Jian started to be anti-communist so he expelled communists with key positions from the alliance. Jian knew that they must end with the Warlords before ending with the communist alliance. -
CCP vs GMD
Peasants supported the communist due to the promise of lands. The GMD was not longer tolerant with them, so he decided to break the alliance. Before they break the alliance, they needed to nd with the warlords. -
The end of the Warlord era. Northern Expedition
The movement started in 1926 and by 1927 both parties captured Hangzhou, Shangai and Nanjing and Beijing in 1928. The GMD proclaimed themselves ans the legitimate government. -
White Terror
The GMD started an attack against the communist. Aproximately, 5000 communist were shoot. Later, the same action occured in different cities, that movement is known as the purification movement -
The begining of the Civil War
The CCP decided to move to the Jiangsi mountains to survive. As the GMD was no longer tolerant to communists they started the persecution. That Civil War had begun.
