Britain sent boats with convicts off to go start a new colony in Australia. They First went to Botany Bay, but the soil was bad so the set up in Port Hacking instead. There were eleven ships in the first fleet, all of them no larger than a ferry. They left and chose to go to Australia because they wanted power and influence in Asia, to trade with Asia, they needed a new place to send colonies, there were new jobs in Australia, there was new jobs, free land, the cities were horrible and dirty...
