There were eleven ships in the first fleet, all of them no larger than a ferry. They left and chose to go to Australia because they wanted power and influence in Asia, to trade with Asia, they needed a new place to send colonies, there were new jobs in Australia, there was new jobs, free land, the cities were horrible and dirty...
