Kids playing and reading first 5 notes and various basic rhythms. 24 students after some loss of unhappy students. -
Two months in
Students playing entire B-flat scale, playing first simple tunes. 8 new sign-ups for next year. -
Three months in
Students learning marching basics, reading more sophisticated rhythms. Up to 15 new kids for next year via positive word of mouth. -
Last month
6th and 7th graders I started in January were able to play same version of Low Rider that I wrote for my old high school band. Middle school band will go from the 25 kids I found, up to 45 next year from our newfound enthusiasm for band.
