    In 1768, james cook was sent to witness the transit of veins which is a astronomical event from tahiti. He also had orders to try and find the great southern land. He eventually found the southeastern corner on the 20th of april, 1770 and 9 days later he discovered botany bay which he figured would be a great harbour. He made landfall, raised the british flag claiming the contenent from the british empire. This event led to the colonization of australia.

He made several pacific explorations and is known for the first recorded european contact with australia and hawaii. James Cook was born on 27 October 1728 at Marton in Cleveland, Yorkshire, England, and died in 1779.

    The american war of independence was a war between the 13 colonies of america. The war actually began by military conflict. They fought for freedom and independence of british rule. Soon france, the netherlands and spain joined the battle to help the americans which ended out with britain losing and recognition of america's independence for the united states.

    The First Fleet which is a fleet of 11 ships, left Portsmouth in 1787 with more than 1480 men, women and children onboard. Even tho most were British, there was also African, American and French convicts. After a journey sailin for three months the First Fleet finally arrived at Botany Bay on the 24th of January 1788. the Aboriginal people who had lived in isolation there for 40,000 years, met the British in an uneasy standoff which is now known as Frenchmans Beach at La Perouse.

    When gold was discovered near ballarat, in victoria, australia it led to becoming a massive gold rush with people sailing in from all over the world just to find their fortunes of gold. It also led to the population increasing high in the city of melbourne and a huge amount of money put into melbourne which increased its economy.

    Coca cola is a carbonated soft drink which is a very popular drink these days and is intended to be like the french wine coca. The first coca cola was made in 1886 by an atlanta pharmacist named D.r john S. pemberton. It used to be known for a patent medicine.

    The federation of australia was when australia was recognised as a country of its own by the rest of the world. On the 1st of January 1901, the Australian colonies united to become a nation. This is known as federation and resulted in the creation of a federal Parliament, with the colonies becoming Australia's six states. Through federation, the states transferred some of their law-making power to the federal Parliament.
