    The Seed

My daughter was 9 months away from graduating from Riverside High School, so we began our research on local and out of state colleges and universities. She submitted an application and was accepted into Alverno College. Shortly, after beginning her educational journey she informed me about Alverno's weekend college program.

    Informational Session

In spring of 2011, I'd contacted Alverno College for information on their weekend program. I met with a counselor and read over the material, and decided to enroll. Shortly thereafter, I received my entrance exam date by traditional mail. The entrance exam was computer-based, which included IT competencies.

The Start of My Educational Journey

The start of educational journey was in the traditional classroom setting. In this environment there was a mix of traditional learning and e-learning. Assignments were submitted using an open sourced platform called, Moodle. This platform tracked assignments, grades, and allowed open forums. In 2013, Alverno began to phase out there weekend program due to low enrollment. In 2014, Alverno offered an alternative to their weekend college program.

    Hybrid Courses

Dec 2014, I received an liberal arts associates degree with a focus in business. In Feb 2015, I'd joined a new program offered by Alverno called, AA-BA. This program had more emphasis on e-learning than the weekend program and with hard work and dedication I would complete this program in 18 mos. As the end of the program was quickly approaching I began to think about my next steps.

Aug 16, 2016, I officially completed my undergraduate degree. At this point I was still unsure of my next steps. However, I began to explore my educational options. After weeks of on-line research I decided to enroll at CSU. Most of my interactions with the admission's department was done electronically. Sept 8, 2016, I received my acceptance letter via email.

    Adapting to the CSU Way

I prefer the traditional learning environment, but due to my 10 year old daughter's schedule I thought I will give e-learning a try. I am still adapting to the CSU way, but I am confidant that I will be successful.
