Why: Because Mexico resented high control of Spanish and all the wealth of New Spain went to Spain.

Texas Independence From Mexico
Who:Mexicans and Texans
John Locke/Thomas Jefferson made the Declaration
General Sam Houston led the Texans
What: Mexican president brings US immagration to a hault which led to abolished slavery which led to settlers revolting
Where: Texas and Mexico
Why: Slavery , families were separated, Texans were not allowed freedom of religion,right to bear arms and trail by jury were denied.

Who:Mexicans and Americans
President James Polk
What:Americans wanted New Mexico, California in exchange for money
Mexicans said no so Polk got angry and send army to Mexico
; there were very few battles because Polk wanted peace.
Where: North Rio Grande
When: 1845 was when Polk asked for the states
Jan. 1847 Pico the commander of Mexico surrendered
Why: Americans wanted more land and the income of money to increase

Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo
Who: Mexican and American
What: Mexico gave up almost half of thier territory(Califorina,Arizona,New Mexico,Texas,part of Colorado,Nevada, and Utah)
Where: Mexico
When: 1848 two countires signed the treaty
Why: To end Mexican/ American War
So what?: Made peace betwen these two countries, Mexico had to give up most of their territory, but this caused problems for both countries. -
Gadsden Purchase
Who: President Franklien Pierce, James Gadsden, American Minister
What: Wanted to establish a permint boundry between Mexico and the US
Where: Rio Grande, Gila RIver and 30,000 square miles runs south of Gila River extends east to El Paso and west of California.
Why: US wanted to secure land to make railroad
So what?: Finally have a boundy between the US and Mexico
South Fork was by the US and North Fork of Gila/Colorado River by Mexico.
