1792- To me the most significant event in this time period was Governor Philip leaves back to England with Benalong and New South Wales is taken over by Marine Officer Francis Grose. 1802- To me the most significant event in this time period was fear of an Irish uprising, Catholic convicts were not allowed to be practicing their religion and convicts would not be allowed to celebrate the Catholic religion was forbidden in New South Wales. 1813- To me the most significant event in this time period was for the first time ever commercial ‘Merino Wool’ heads from Sydney to England and by the 2000’s 80% of Merion wool in the world comes from Australia. Effect; Because of this event I think Australia changed in this way the trading of Merino Wool affected economy and trading dramatically.Up until now. -
Redcliffe is Discovored
1824-25- To me the most significant event in this time period was the site of Redcliffe recommended by John Oxley to Governor Brisbane as a convict settlement, a fair distance away from Sydney for re-offending convicts. Effects; Because of this event I think Australia changed in this way the colonies expanded once again and more trading supplies could have been found. -
Myall Creek Massacre
1833-39- To me the most significant event in this time period was stockmen got killed approximately 30 people from Wirrayaraay tribe known as ‘The Myall Creek Massacre’. In the 1st trial the jury refuses to convict, although in a later trial a juror states ‘I know he is guilty but I would convict a white man to be hanged for killing a black man.’ Even though 3 others already had been. -
Myall Creek Massacre (Effect)
Effect; Because of this event I think Australia changed in this way the act by the juror was racist and many if not all indigenous aboriginals would have been filled with rage and anger and might have fought and even killed the convicts and settlers. -

1841-46-To me the most significant event in this time period was all around Australia was a depression because the wool market a major export industry collapses. Effect; Because of this event I think Australia changed in this way this had an impact on the economy since it was a ‘major export industry. It would have also had an impact on people’s health. -

1850- To me the most significant event in this time period was gold is found and helps Australian colonies but also other trading countries of bankruptcy or dept. Also immigrate numbers shot right up with this discovery. Australia was the place to be. -

Effect; Because of this event I think Australia changed in this way now messages are travelling further, faster in hours instead of months, and faster ways were created some that we even use today. -

1888- To me the most significant event in this time period was a ship with Chinese arrives on the Afgan are not allowed to come to shore at Sydney Harbour. A large crowd marches around parliament house ordering Prime Minister Parks ‘to stop the invasion’ but New South Wales Supreme Court allows them to disembark. Effect; Because of this event I think Australia changed in this way immigration and population was impacted. The rally outside parliament house also impacted politics. -

1901- To me the most significant event in this time period was Australia is now one federated country. Commonwealth is born. WA signed late to the same co-signed part document as NZ is also allowed to belatedly join the federation. Effect; Because of this event I think Australia changed in this way Australia is all one.
