On the 24th of January 1788 the first fleet arrived in Australia.There were 11 ships and there were 1480 men, women and children onboard.There were mostly British people but there were also Africans, Americans and French convicts.

Captain Phillip captured 2 aboriginals called Bennelong and Colby.Colby soon escaped, but Bennelong stayed in the settlement for several months, then slipped away.

Lady Juliana left Plymouth on 29 July 1789, and arrived at Port Jackson on 6 June 1790.She carried 226 female convicts, five died during the journey.
