    the bledisloe cup was first played in 1931 between australia and newzealand which are 2 very proud countries. australia has won the bledisloe cup 12 times which is a big thing for us condidering that rugby union is newzealands favourite and most played sport. i think it has changed the way we look at rugby in australia and many other sports because it shows we can hold our own against other countries.

    in 2002, a young man named steven bradbury won a gold medal at the winter olympic games for the 1000 metre speed skate meaning that he had won the first ever australian gold medal for the speed skate event and the first ever speed skate event in the entire southern hemisphere. i think that this event has a great meaning for australia because it shows that even the underdogs can win and that because it was his first time making it so far so it makes it such a great achievement for us all.
