  • First Fleet

    In 1788,
    the First Fleet came to Australia,
    led by Captain Arthur Phillip
  • Free Settlers

    From around 1800 - 1850,
    Free Settlers came for work, cheap land, new life etc.
  • Germans

    In 1830,
    Germans came to Australia to practise a religion called Luthism.
  • Chinese

    The Chinese came for the Gold Rush. Most then stayed for work. Some work was Market Farming, Laundries & Restaurants.
  • South Sea Islanders

    In 1850,
    the South Sea Islanders came to Queensland for working with Bananas and Sugar.
  • Afghans

    In 1850,
    the Afghans came for work with camels.
  • Japanese

    In 1860,
    the Japanese came to the top of Western Australia to dive for pearls. They went pearl diving and farming. A city they went to was Broome.
  • Lebanese

    In 1880,
    the Lebanese came for draipery.
