    In 1788 England sent 162,000 convicts to Australia in 806 ships. The first eleven of these ships are to today known as the first fleet. They contained convicts and soldiers that are believed to be the founders of Australia.

    In 1858 Cricketers Thomas Wills and his cousin Henry Harrison invented Australian Rules Football to keep themselves and other cricketers fit during winter. Melbourne football club was the first club established and back then they played with a round ball.

    His first car, finished in 1896, was built in a little brick shed in his garden. Driven by a two-cylinder, four-cycle motor, it was mounted on bicycle wheels. The car had no gears or brakes. By August, 1899, he had raised enough money to start his own company he named his company Ford.

    WW1 begins
    The assassination of the Arch Duke Franz Ferdinand, heir to the throne of Austro Hungray, by a Serbian nationalist led Russia to support Serbia and Germany to support Hungray. This conflict was later known as the Central Powers known as Germany, Austro Hungray and Italy versus the Allies made up of Russia, Serbia, Britain and France. This was known as World War One and was largley brought about by fears created through armies expanding Empires and protecting Allies

    On this day ninty seven years ago Australian and New Zealand soldiers formed an allied expedition that set out to capture the Gallipoli peninsula. When they landed in Gallipoli were slaughtered by the Turkish defenders. The war lasted for 8 months and 8,000 australians died and soon the 25 April soon became the day on which Australians remembered the sacrifice of those who had died in the war.
