    By the 1820s, prosperity and Australia's cheap land attracted more and more Britannics. The settlers began to move - violently-deeper into Aboriginal territories to fulfill their needs. Several years later , cities - Brisbane,Perth, Melbourne and Adelaide- were settled by the squatter.

    Gold was actually firstly discovered in 1823 but the discoveries were kept secret, for fear of sparking off unrest among the convicts. When more and more people left Australians colonies to join the gold rush in California, the government back off and started encourage the discovery of gold. So gold was first "officially" discovered in Australia in 1851, in New South Wales.

    The Eureka Stockade occurred during the early years of the Australian goldrush.The gold miners rebelled against the miner's licence. The rebellion officialy started on November 30. Then the miners began to construct a wooden barricade which they thought able to protect them.Several days later, the repression was harsh:2 diggers and 5 troopers died in the battle.The rebellion itself failed, but they gained the attention of the Government and changes were made improving the miners' life condition
