    Sir Henry Parkes
    Sir Henry Parkes arrived at a coincidence time discussing about the federation. Parkers arrived in Sydney in 1839 at the age of 24 being from England but had a wife and a newborn child, he worked as a laborer, customs officer, journalists and a newspaper owner.

    Finally, the arrival of a ship called Hashemy bringing more convicts to Australia which stop at New South Wales June,1849 but people over there were not very pleased with who had arrived. But someone with self-educated English was pleased and it was Sir Henry Parkes who was self organised against this mini protest making it the first national movement in Australia. This protest helped Australia with New South Wales dominating the politics for the next forty years including 5 terms as a premier.

    But thing one that was a massive problem was that the Australian continent could not defend against other colonies or countries unless they combined the whole of Australia but back at their time it wasn’t going to be easy. One more thing was that across 3000km of railway was stretched across the continent, but each colony had its own railway so if you need to cross the state you had to take a different railway.

    On the first evening of an important night was in 1890 which was a conference in Melbourne but it was about that the hope of Australia and unity was gone. One other problem was that the delegates and heavy taxes that were put on goods, food from when they were brought from other colonies which was a huge crisis. The reason why that the prices was a big deal was that the threat of it was from other colonies wanting more taxes.

    The Riverina area of southern New South Wales was fertile soil for the federation movement. Farmers and constructions in this state were closer in distance to Melbourne than Sydney, but their path to southern markets was blocked by those annoying intercolonial prices. During this time there was organisation group called (ANA) standing for: Australian Natives Association but also this group was invited into this situation.

    Sir Henry Parkes dies at eighty years in April 1896. He created so many achievements to forward Australia into the real world. He campaigned for parliament until the very end of his life telling his supporters that he intends to live longer for at least twenty years more. He did not see the potential of federation and what he had impacted on it.

    Queensland 38,488 30,996 Edmund Barton and Alfred Deakin both travelled to Queensland in 1899 to support for the Yes Campaign so that Queensland could vote. On their way to Queensland they stop by Tenterfield were Parkes made a speech.

    Finally, Australia succeed with WA being part for being part of the commonwealth which was good because then the whole country can vote as one and Britain had control all over and WA is not isolated from anyone else. The final vote number was 44,800 yes votes and no votes was 19,691.

    On this very day announcement was made that everyone from Sydney gather around for the birth of Commonwealth of Australia being official over 500,000 people were there lining up to see it in streets of Sydney and a further of 100,000 people were in the parade at Centennial park. Once and for all the Barton ministry took the oath of office.
