Corowa Conference 1893
The Federation Leagues and Australian Natives Association worked to promote federation to the people. In 1893, a conference was held on the banks of the Murray River at Corowa, New South Wales. -
A peoples convention was held and the constitution was changed.

Referendums asking people to say 'yes' or 'no' to the proposed Australian Constitution were held in each of the Australian colonies between 1898 and 1900. This was one of the most important steps in the process of Federation.

Sir Edmund Barton helped write the draft of the constitutio in1891 and attended all the Federal conventions. He became Australia's first prime minister on the first of January 1901.

The first official coat of arms of Australia was granted by a Royal Warrant of King Edward VII in 1908. This coat of arms was used on some Australian coins even after it was superseded in 1912, and last appeared on the sixpenny piece in 1966.

Canberra was named Canberra exactly 200 years ago. they had to make a new city to put the parliament house in because Melborne and Sydney were fighting over the location for the new parliament house for all of Australia.
