The first Europeans began to explore Australia. They were the Ducth or at that time the Netherlands. But the explorers were scared away by the Aborigenies. -

In 1770 Captain Cook sail around to the southeastern part of Australia, and claimed it for England. He also mapped the area. -

In 1787 british ships Known as "The First Fleet" set sail for Australia. These ships carried prisoners on them. -
The firsts penal colonization in Australia
In 1788 the first penal or prison colony was formed in Australia. this colony was formed in New South Wales. most of the people there were prisoners, guards, and the guard's family. -
Aborigines
In the 1830s the Aborigines, natives of Australia, were moved to reserves. And their children were taken away from them. So the children would not know who or where they came from.This would mean that they would not know anything of or about their culture. -
The first Boundaries of Australia

In 1901 the Common Wealth was estabilished. This was basically saying that the boundaries or states that were formed in 1861 were now a confederation. -

The Immigration Restriction Act was placed so that only white people were allowed in Australia. so you had to have some sort of Ancestry of European decendents. -
The Aborigenes get their land back
In 1976 the Aborigenal Land Act was when the government gave the Northern Territory, a state in Australia, to the Aborigenes. -
The Australian Act
The Australian Act was when Australia became partof the British empire, but Australia was now its own country. So they had a constitutional monarchy, the queen of England is the Queen of Australia. But the Queen has limitied power over seas.
