    The war was fought between British America and New France, with both sides having military support from their parent countries, Great Britain and France, who declared war on each other in 1756. Within one year, the war escalated from a regional affair to a world-wide conflict.

    The treaty was signed on 10 February 1763 by the kingdoms of Great Britain, France and Spain, with Portugal in agreement, after Britain's victory over France and Spain during the French and Indian war The signing of the treaty officially ended the war, and marked the beginning of an era of British dominance outside Europe. The two nations returned much of the territory that they had each captured during the war,
  • British Disovery of Australia

    British Disovery of Australia
    Australia was discovered in around 1606 however it was first mapped and properly explored by Lieutenant James Cook. In 1770 Cook charted the australian east coast in his ship. Cook claimed the east coast on 22 August 1770 at Possession Island, naming eastern Australia 'New South Wales. The rest of australia's coastline was almost completly mapped and published by English mariners and navigators Bass and Flinders, and the French mariner, Baudin in 1814.

    The thirteen colonies in the America's had been at war with Britain for almost a year when the second continental congress decided it was time for the colonies to officially declare their independence. This meant that they would no longer be a part of the British Empire and would fight for their freedom.

    The industrial revolution was a change in the way many things where manufactrued between about 1760 and 1820. Previous work that needed to be done by hand could now be done with machines and there were major changes to the way chemicals were produced. The most important technological developments included: Textiles (no longer done by hand), Steam Power (efficiency increased) and iron making (substitution of coke for charcoal)

    The Myall Creek Massacre was the killing of about 30 unarmed Indigenous Australians on 10 June 1838. The massacre was commited by a group of 11 stockmen. Indigenous people put up resistance to the invasion of their land by spearing sheep and cattle for food and sometimes attacking the stockmen's huts and killing the white men, causing the stockmen to despise them
  • Gold Discovered in Australia

    Gold Discovered in Australia
    Gold was discovered in Victoria, Australia in 1851 by Mr. W. Campbell of Strath Loddon. While it was only minute it led to futher investigation and soon after many other people started discovering gold. This triggered a rush of people to move to victoria to mine or get good jobs, and in 10 years, the Australian population nearly tripled.

    Telephone Invented
    Many invetions contributed to the creation of the telephone, the telephone could not have been invented without many of them, people had long proposed such a device however where unable to actually build the final product. It was not until 1864 that the telephone was actually successfully created by Innocenzo Manzetti. The telephone is an important part of our everyday lives now and is taken for granted. This invention would also lead to many other important devices being created

    "I hereby proclaim the opening of the first International Olympic Games at Athens." - King George I of greece, With these words the worlds first olympics of the new aera where opened. Its success lead to more olympic events being added to the games and causing it to grow largly in popularity The event was the idea of Baron Pierre de Coubertin who traveled the world to gather support for his dream, to have nations come together and put aside national disputes, all in the name of sport.

    Orville Wright piloted the first powered airplane 20 feet above a beach in North Carolina.
    The flight lasted 12 seconds and covered 120 feet. Three more flights were made that day, with orvilles brother (Wilbur) setting the record with a flight lasting 59 seconds over 852 feet.

    Many cars exitsed before the ford model T, however none had been truley adopted by the public due to the high cost and limited avalability. The model T aimed to change this, coming in with an engine that was very powerful for the time, a compact stature that could still fit a small family and all at a great pricetag. This car revolutionised the way people communted and traveled everyday.

    At 11.40pm on the night of 14 April 1912, The titanic was traveling to New York and on its maiden voyage. The RMS Titanic struck an iceberg that caused it to begin sinking, At around 2.20am on the morning of 15 April, the Titanic disappeared underneth the Atlantic Ocean. The disaster resulted in the loss of more than 1,500 lives, almost two-thirds of the people on board
