    Red Cloud's War

    The Lakota Indians faught in the most successful attacks against the US Army. This eventually led to the Lakota to be granted a large reservation that included the Black Hills.

  • Apache Indians Were Imprisoned

    The Apache Indians were imprisoned at St. Augustine, Florida. Before finishing his painting, Brush went to visit them. Although, Brush noted that there was no background to the picture, it is thought that his visit influenced his work.
