Impressionism

Cubism
Movement began in Paris. Started by Pablo Picasso and Georges Braque. Consists on oil painting, sculptures, mix media. Cubism broke from centuries of tradition in painting realism for example not referring to the single viewpoint, instead analysed objects, then braking up the element and merged fixed in an abstracted form, and how the artist portrays the objects from numerous viewpoints to create a layered effect. -
Expressionism
Movement emerged across Germany then throughout Europe. although wasn’t completely new as artistes such as Vincent Van Gogh, James Ensor had been doing the same style, but this was the first given a name. Expressionism refers to image of reality, instance portrait, landscape, then being changed express the artist’s feeling, emotion by using tone of colour, this can be highly intense, vibrant and not naturalistic, the brushwork is hard, strong, free, oil paint layered generously to give textured. -
Dada
