Jews Forced Out
In A.D. 73, the Roman Empire forced the Jews to leave
Palestine. Jews scattered
throughout the world (the “Diaspora”). The Arabs stayed in Palestine, later becoming Muslims. -
Racism
Jews were mistreated wherever they went. In
Russia, people attacked
Jews and burned their villages. Later, in Germany, 6 million Jews were killed in the Holocaust. Jews began planning to return to Israel. -
Immigration
Jews began returning to Israel in 1882, buying land and building villages. When Great Britain won WWI, they took control of Palestine and said they supported the Jews returning to their homeland.
