    Split Between Christians/Jews

    At the time, Jews were followers of Jesus.

    The Beginning of Christianity/The Time of the Roman Empire

    During a time of crisis, Jesus lived as a Jew in Palestine. After Rome conquered Palestine, he insisted that not only should the Jews have to obey Roman laws, but they also had to worship Roman gods instead of their own.
  • Totally Isolate from Christians/Ghettos/Agents of the Devil

    A small minority in Europe, Jews were very vulnerable to attacks by the Christian majority.By the sixteenth century, most Jews were separated from Christian neighbors. In many countries, people of the Jewish faith were forced into ghettos.

    A New Idea of Race

    A new idea of race began to emerge, reviving old myths. Whereas before, race referred to people that shared a nationality, now it was used to refer to those that shared a genetic heritage. Jews were targeted for both their religion and their race. Many people ranked the races, and at the top were the Aryans.

    Tests on Children.

    People were trying to see if there was a difference between Jewish and Aryan kids. They discovered that there was no difference.
  • Racist Thinking Becomes Acceptable

    Attacks against Jews and other minorities worsened. These attacks got much worse during times of confusion, stress, or uncertainty. It was easier during these times to blame a "racial enemy."
  • Civil Servants

    A Protestant minister in Germany, as well as many others, wrote and claimed that there were too many German politicians and judges, or civil servants.
  • Hitler Becomes Prime Minister

  • Hitler Announces Three New LAws

    These laws stripped Jews of citizenship and made it a crime for them to have contact with Christians.
  • Hitler Rules Most of Eastern and Western Europe

  • Most Jews Are Dead

    Most European Jews are dead are or on their way to it.
  • 12,000 Jews Shipped

    12,000 Hungarian Jews were being shipped their death each day.
