Dzhokhar Dudayev was born on February 15 1944 and he died on April 21 1996 at the age of 52. He was the first President of the Chechen Republic of Ichkeria and he was also a military aviator. -

February 16 1944 was Margot’s birthday. Peter came over and they went to get potatoes for that special day. They had fun judging each others character and they talked a lot. -
WW2: Operation Hailstone ended
On February 17, was a massive air and surface attack on Truk Lagoon from the United States Navy against the Imperial Japanese Navy. Operation Hailstone ended with an American victory. -
WW2: The light cruiser HMS Penelope sunk
The light cruiser HMS Penelope sunk on February 18. It was torpedoed twice, which caused the sinking immediately. This tragedy caused the loss of 417 members of the crew including the captain, but 206 survived. -
