  • My Birthday

    My Birthday
This was the day I was born in Bangkok, Thailand. But my father was not there, he was an emigrant at that time. Writing this makes it easier to cope my feelings and share my journey. I started doing chores very early in life, all year long. My mother was the only person that I could talk to, When I was seven years old my father came home. We had money to survive and things got better. Just 12 years later was when I was sent to Angel Island to get a job to earn more money for my parents.
  • Getting notified

    Getting notified
I was in the kitchen and I heard a knock on the door. There was a guy in a uniform standing at my door step. I was then asked to come and I walked out. I didn't know where I was going. I left and he told me I was going to Angel Island to make money for my parents. I am going to stay there for a long time. He told me several years is about how long I would stay.
  • The trip over

    The trip over
I was loaded onto a steerage. I am in a crowded space and I have no where to move to. I see people talking about our jobs and our living conditions. It doesn't seem too good. People have been throwing up and getting sick very easily. I have not gotten sick. I'm not sure what to expect.
  • Arriving and my thoughts

    Arriving and my thoughts
I arrived at Angel Island and it is hot. I see many people sweating but, I am already used to that because of the crowded steerage. People drag me over to a building. This building is where I get food and will sleep everyday. Sleeping and food seem so good right now especially the bed. I haven't been in one for a long time, I wonder what my job is but, I have to put this down. It is time to sleep before they find this diary.
  • Getting my job

    Getting my job
I work at the railroad now for a long time. Today was my first day. I make the railroad equitment and sometimes put together the railroads. They went over the punishments. I tried working today and it didn't turn out very well. I got beaten hard. I don't know how long I will last doing this but I guess I will find out.
  • Working

    Working
Over the past months I have been beaten several times. The work continues to get harder everyday. I lose sleep every night. I only get 3 hours of sleep each night. They are hot long days until now. Now since it is starting to be winter I just make the products. I guess I should fall asleep now because this day has been outrageous.
