Jackson was the leading candidate for the presidential election, but he did not have the majority. So the Democratic-republicans voted on John Adams to become the new president. There was an alliance between Henry Clay and Adams so Adams elected Clay was the speaker of the House of Representatives. Jackson called this a "corrupt bargain" saying that insider elites should not have any advantages. Still Adams remained as President though.

This was the rematch between John Adams and Andrew Jackson. After the election Jackson eventually won because of the corrupted system from before in 1824.

This act allowed people to claim land west of the Mississippi from Indian Tribes. Most tribes fought back when the Americans expanded. The reason why this bill was made was to make Westward expansion possible for the United States.

During the 1820's there was a severe economic downturn. This was mostly caused by a high tariff set in place when Adams was president. The tariff was both opposed in the South and the North. South Carolina especially did not like the tariff. South Carolina then decided to null the tariff. Many times did the central government make new bills to counteract S. Carolina's actions.

The government said that people were going into Indian territory without any permissions or licenses. Therefore they think it's unconstitutional. The case goes to court and they see that he is not guilty because the US shouldn't be messing with foreign countries/people.

Jackson did not like the bank of the United States. In order to get rid of it he took off the charter which lasts until 1836. Since that time the bank has still been there, but Jackson later expects the bank to be gone after 1836.
