    George Washington Presidency

    George Washington was our first US president. He served two terms, He was described as a forma,dignified,strong president. He gave advice like staying out of foreign alliances, build a strong country, trade with foreign countries is ok, and to avoid political party divisions.
  • Spinning Mill

    The first spinning mill was in Rhode Island, built by Samuel Slater and Moses Brown. They brought the top secret factory plan over from England. This was the begging of the industrial revolution.
  • Cotton Gin

    The first cotton gin (engine) revived the demand for slaves
  • US Capitol moves to Washington DC

    The decision to move the capitol to DC was to centralize the capitol.
  • Louisiana Purchase

    The US bought a huge thing of land from France for $15 million, that was a very good deal.

    Lewis and Clark Expedition

    The purpose was to study wildlife, make map to the pacific, establish relationships with Naive Americans, and claim Oregon country for the USA.
  • Steamboats

    Steamboats were very popular and important for people. They made it way faster and easier to get places, and made it easier to sell and buy goods.
  • MO Compromise

    The MO Compromise was to keep balance in the Congress between slave/free states. Mo was admitted as slave free state at the same time Maine was admitted as a free state. This banned slavery north of 36 degrees latitude and delayed the issue of slavery.

    The US sent a message to the world that Americas were closed to colonization
  • Erie Canal

    The Erie Canal was built to connect the Hudson River with Lake Erie After this there was a whole system of canals built in the eastern/NE United States.
  • US Immigrants

    The population was 12.9 million people, out of that there were 129,000 or 1% of immigrants
  • Indian Removal Act

    17,000 people were forced to move from OK to GA on the Trail of Tears. 4,000 people died along the way that is 1 in 4 people
  • Oregon Trail

    Whitmans traveled the trail first and others began to follow. The trail began in Independence Mo, it was a 2000 mile trip. There were a lot of difficulties along the way like food, overload, terrain, weather, diseases, accidents and Indian attacks.
  • Treaty of Guadelupe Hidalgo

    When the Mexican war ended and the US won, we got the Treaty of HIdalgo
  • Gadsen Purchase

    The Gadsen Purchase was the last portion of continental land. The US purchased this from Mexico for $10 million
