  • Louisiana Purchase

    The Louisiana Purchase doubled the size of the United States for only 15 million from France. It was heavily debated if the president at the time had the power to make this decision.
  • Lewis and Clark Expedition Begins

    The expedition was to map out the land gained from the Louisiana Purchase and Pacific North West.
  • War of 1812

    The War of 1812 was fought over the British violating United States maritime laws. The war was ended with the Treaty of Ghent.
  • Missouri Compromise

    The Missouri Compromise was put in place to maintain balance between free and slave states. The compromise stated that for every slave state added, a free state had to be added as well.
  • Indian Removal Act

    The Indian Removal Act was signed by President Andrew Jackson. This act forced Indians to move west past the Mississippi River and most Indian tribes put up a fight.
  • Texas Revolution Begins

    Texans fought against Mexico for their freedom. The Mexican government was being ran by Santa Anna who wanted full control, but Texans were against this.
  • Oregon Trail Established

    The Oregon Trail was a 2,000 mile route from Independence, Missouri to Oregon where Americans Migrated West through 6 states over the time of 4-5 months on foot and wagon.
  • Battle of the Alamo

    The Battle of the Alamo was fought between Texan and Mexican troops. Evan though Texas had lost and almost everyone inside the Alamo died, the battle brought the Texans together to fight harder against the Mexicans.
  • American-Mexican War Begins

    This war was fought over land and the United States ended up gaining 500,000 square miles of land from Mexico. The war was ended in 1848 by the Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo.
  • American Civil War Begins

    The American civil war was fought over states rights and the secession of 11 southern states. The war lasted 4 years and the Union won.
