The current Golden Leaf team met to discuss ways of improving learning at Sparta Elementary School. Teachers and students have limited amount of access to technology. The team decided that it would be best to launch a "Bring Your Own Device" initiative at Sparta School.

Cindy Price, Mary Rowland, Amber Goad, and Sherrie Hines met to discuss BYOD action plan at Sparta Elementary.

Cindy Price, Brendan O'Neil, Amber Goad and Sherrie Hines met with Dr. Judith Ray, the Chief Technology officer for Catawba counties schools to discuss their BYOD plan. They then met with teacher, David Shook, at Jacob's Fork Middle School to discuss how he utilizes this program in his classroom. Also, two students were interviewed and dicussed how technology changed the way they learn and interact in the classroom.

Golden Leaf meeting in Greensboro. The team discussed the book "Giving Wings to Children's Dreams" and continued to update the action plan. A livebinder and timeline will be created documenting the process.

Cindy Price, Mary Rowland, Amber Goad and Sherrie Hines met with technology support specialists and the superintendent to discuss how to roll out our plan. Originally, the action plan consisted of a bring your own device policy for Sparta school but the initiative has since spread to a district wide initiative. The acceptable use policy and user agreements for students/parents have been updated and will hopefully be approved by the superintendent and the board of education by early February.

On March 28th, teachers and staff will have a required professional development day. We will begin planning this day based around google, gaggle, and ways to integrate technology in the classroom. Presenters will include all teachers who are in the ITF cohort through ASU.
