A senior hire will be required who will oversee all of these programmes. Ideally, this person would be based in Aiglemont.
-
This person will run the stream of work that aims to provide AKES pupils with the requisite digital skills. This is essentially a teacher training role. This person will oversee a small group of teachers, initially in six schools in Pakistan, who will be responsible for rolling out the ICDL training. They will also set the benchmarks & run the change management programme for the Minimum Standards that are directly related to Teaching (the other pieces fall under the remit of the Logistics lead).
-
This person will oversee the Online Community of Practice. In year one the emphasis will be on building a repository of EdTech software and a series of implementation guides as well as overseeing the direction of the community itself.
-
These are the six schools that will pilot both the Digital Skills Programme and the broader Minimum Standards programme. They will also have access to the Online Community of Practice
-
This person will oversee the Minimum Standards programme and will support schools to procure better by following the EdTech Adoption Process LITE (we don’t envisage any schools will follow the FULL programme in year 1)
-
It's not clear how abundant teachers who are proficient in the ICDL are in Pakistan. The assumption is that new teachers will have to be hired and then trained.
-
The EdTech and the Digital Skills Lead will conduct a benchmarking exercise with the six schools in Pakistan. This will cover off:
* Problem solving
* Student Capability
* Technology Infrastructure
* Teacher Capability
* Resources
* Implementation & Impact -
The Online Community of Practice Lead will conduct a consultation across AKES as how best the OCP can support them. The emphasis of this strategy is now on Pakistan and much of the work will take place there. However there is no reason why the Online Community of Practice cannot serve schools across the wider AKES group. All schools will be made aware of its existence and teachers that wish to can access it.
-
This person will spend almost all of their time in the six schools working on the EAP and Minimum Standards Programme.
-
The OCP will require significant work and will need a second (more juniour) pair of hands.
-
Choose the appropriate technology for the community and wireframe the various sections with some placeholder content
-
Create seed content including the set of guidance around software options for teachers
-
Go live date.
In the months preceding a few teachers will have been allowed early access to help kick start the various conversation threads. -
A joint effort across the team, at this point a benchmarking exercise will have been carried out and the standards for Gold and Silver will be written up. Costings for 2020 budget will be available at this juncture.
-
Our new ICDL teachers (overseen by the Digital Skills Lead) will teach the first cohort of students in our six schools in Pakistan.
-
Most parts of the budget are essentially fixed as staff costs. However the Minimum Standards work is likely to require an unknown increase in cap-ex and op-ex (for computers, bandwidth, software, teacher training etc.) This will need to be approved at this juncture for roll out in 2020
-
This process will need to be heavily documented as, we are looking to create a replicable process that can be rolled out across all schools over the next 10 years
