Chickasaw, Creek, and Choctaw Native Americans are moved to Indian territory. Seminole leaders fight a war with the US. Many are moved to Indian territory, but some remain. Cherokee leaders have stated that they were an independent state and sued Georgia for invading them, and won. However, gold was discovered on their land and the ruling was ignored. Jackson did not enforce the ruling and people did not object. US troops moved Cherokee people to Indian territory in 1838 via the trail of tears.
