    Charles I died in 1558, although his reign ended in 1556. One thing that made him an absolute monarch is the fact that he tried to rule over all of England, but failed and instead started a civil war.

    Peter I, or Peter the Great, spent his rule modernizing Russia. He changed the parameters of the military to more modern standards. He also started on Russia's Navy.

    King Louis XIV ended the Treaty of Mantes, which made people have the freedom of religion. Because he did this, everyone in France was converted to the Catholic religon.

    King Peter decided, to enforce Russian naval supremacy, he wanted to aquire the Baltic Sea from the Swedes. This erupted in a huge war all around it.

    In his 72 year reign, Louis XIV was one of the country's most powerful leaders, and pulled France to the forefront of the powerful nations of Europe.

    Peter the Great was an absolute monarch due to the fact that he had supreme power to do whatever he wished. For him, this included increasing the power of Russia.
