In this election John Adams and Thomas Jefferson were canidates for president. Aaron Burr was a canidate for vice president. In the end Thomas Jefferson won the election because he was a better man in the peoples eyes. -
Louisiana Purchase
On this date in time the U.S bought the Louisiana Territory. This land spread over 2 million km. Eventually Napoleon wanted to build a French Empire on this specific land. Napoleon could not get the land the way he wanted and compromised with Jefferson. The land then became U.S territory again. -
Marbury vs.Madison Court Decision
James Madison would not deliver commisions for justices. People did not agree with what he did and wanted to put him on trial. But the court decided not to take a legal action. Later the court found that the Judiciary Act of 1789 was unconstitutional. Eventually it became a new act called Judicial Review. -
Lewis and Clark reach the Pacific Ocean
At this date in time Lewis,Clark, and the Corps reached the Pacific Ocean. Their journey has been hard and they are lucky to get this far. By the time they arrived here both Lewis and Clark knew that there was no Northwest Passage. -
The Treaty of Ghent
This treaty ended the War of 1812 which was between the U.S.A and Britain. This treaty brought the two nations back together again. It was the symbol that made peace throughout the two. -
Andrew Jackson Elected President
Jackson ran for president a year before and lost to Adams. He ran again and became the 7th president of the United States. Jackson had a special conection with ordinary people many presidents before and after him did not have. It seems that since he wasn't the richest man, he knew what the people went through.
