The 3rd moon phase is called a new moon. A new moon is when the sunlight is directly behind the moon, making it seem "hidden". -

The 4th moon phase is called a wanning crescent. A wanning crescent is almost the same thing as a waxing crescent but it looks as if it is on the other side of the moon. -
fith moon phase of the month
The 5th moon phase is called the third quarter. The sunlight is shining on the same half of the moon as the first quarter but we are looking at it from a different angle. -
sixth moon phase of the month
The sixth moon phase is called a wanning gibbous. The sunlight is still shining on half the moon and we see most of it from the position that it is in. -
seventh moon phase of the month
The 7th moon phase is called a full moon and it lives up to Its name. -
eighth moon phase of the month
The 8th moon phase is called a waxing gibbous. It is the same thing as a wanning gibbous but we look at it differently. The next phase of the moon is starting back at the begining with the 1rst quarter moon.
