  • Prenatal Development

    Biosocial - Mother was 28 years of age, in good health, non-smoker. She didn't drink or do anything substantial that would have affected my health or development.
    Congitive - My mother often read story books to my brother and myself.
    Psychosocial - She worked full-time, had a moderate stress level, also had another child who was 2 years of age at the time. Worked out 2-3 days a week, walking around the neighborhood or on a treadmill. Avoided lifting heavy weights.

  • Birth

    Born in Livonia, MI, 7/29/1986. 7lbs, 5ounces; 20 inches.
  • First 2 Years

    Biosocial - Started Walking around age 1, was normal growth & developmental wise.
    Cognitive - Started talking before age 1, first words: mama & dada, formulated small phrases between years 1 & 2.
    Psychosocial - Played with my siblings & cousins, often taken on vacations & to parks to interact with others. Developed a bond with family members and was well cared for.
  • The Play Years

    Biosocial - Had normal BMI & weight, was a little under on the height scale. Very stubborn about what I ate,
    Cognitive - Excelled in Pre-School and Kindergarten. Was at the normal level reguarding colors, numbers, and shapes. Developed language and could formulate sentences. Began writing.
    Psychosocial - Developed relationships with family members. Interacted with other children in Pre-School and Kindergarten. Developed a sense of gender issues and the differences between boys and girls.
  • School Years

    Biosocial - Began exercise, involved in organized sports - soccer & figure skating. Was still at average for BMI and weight, below average for height.

    Cognitive - Excelled in school, developed more advanced handwriting skills, began reading and using higher thinking skills.

    Psychosocial - Involved in organized sports, developed friendships through school and sports. More play dates and activities with friends and family. Enjoyed playing outside & playing "make believe."
  • Adolescence

    Biosocial- Growth at normal pattern. Mensturation began at age 12, along with many hormonal changes, slight acne and some weight gain. Body development of sexual characteristics. Very active and health lifestyle. Played soccer and skated.
    Cognitive- Began developing more of my own opinions and ideas about things, instead of just going by what my parents or friends said. Developed academically, but began to not care about school as much and was more concerned with my social life and sports.
  • Adolescence 2

    Psychosocial- Developed my own ideas of who I was as an individual. Went through many different groups of friends, seeing where I fit in best. Was constantly worrying about and conerned about what other people thought about me. At this time I was very self-analyzing and hard on myself as far as friends and sports were concerned. Developed some lasting bonds with friends, started becoming interested in the opposite sex and dating. Was a member of Varsity Soccer team in High School.
  • Emerging Adulthood

    Biosocial- Involved in exercise on a regular basis. I enjoy working out at the gym, doing cardio training along with strength exercises. Tore my ACL & had to go through extensive rehab which afftected me health wise because I couldn't engage in my normal activities. Reached peak of height growth and continue to remain at average weight for my height. Continue to engage in physical activities, but have discontinued playing soccer because of the injuries that I have sustained.
  • Emerging Adulthood 2

    Cognitive- Graduated high school and attended Western Michigan University. Excelled well in college, transfered to Eastern Michigan University after 1st year of college. While at Eastern, obtained my Bachelor's Degree in Physical Education & Health Education. Graduated college with a 3.93 GPA & recieved many scholarships and honors for my academic work. Took my education much more seriously in college than I did in high school. Began to analyze my own morals and religous beleifs.
  • Emerging Adulthood 3

    Psychosocial- Finally have a grasp on who I am as a person. It took trial and error to discover what I really wanted to do in life. I am now back in school, getting my Master's degree from Eastern Michigan University in Occupational Therapy. Have really discovered the meaning of true friends and have an appreciation for the amazing family that I have and the support they give me. Have really seen the meaning of work and the benefits that come out of it. Developed ways to handle stress.
  • Wedding Day!

  • First Baby!

    Birth of my first baby, a beautiful, healthy baby boy!
  • Birth of my 2nd baby!

    Gave birth to my second child, a beautiful and healthy baby girl!
  • Adulthood 1

    Biosocial- Continue to remain active. Gave birth to two healthy babies. No signs of any major health concerns, but continue to get regular check-ups as my family has a history of heart problems and cancer. Exercise 3-5 times a week doing low impact aerobic activities, and weight-baring exercises. Working and being on my feet all day has contributed to arthritis in my joints. Normal body changes due to aging have occured- hair graying and a slight loss of vision.
  • Adulthood 2

    Cognitive - Continue to use my brain at work everyday! Working as an OT in a hospital where I am constantly working with patients and improving their daily living. Attend conferences and workshops to further my education. Enjoy reading and learning in little ways about my work, my children's lives, and the news.
  • Adulthood 3

    Psychosocial- Marriage has been amazing, I have found someone who I truly love and we work well together. I would do anything for my children, I am very active in thier lives and love them to death! Enjoy spending time with my family, traveling, and taking vacations to relax and enjoy each other. Still maintain some friendships that I had in college, but my main focus is on work and my family.
  • Grandchildren!

    I now have 3 grandchildren! I love being a grandparent and being involved in my children's lives. I have slight health problems - high blood pressure and arthritis. I try to continue to be active and get to the gym to keep my body moving. My relationship with my family is great and we spend a lot of time together. I continue to work and will retire soon.
  • Late Adulthood 1

    Biosocial - Continue to exercise, doing moderate activities to remain active, but nothing too strenuous due to arthritis in my joints. Sight is slightly worse, due to the natural aging process. Enjoying retired life from work!
  • Late Adulthood 2

    Cognitive - Short term memory has started to become a little slow, no major issues with memory though. There is no memory loss or significant problems, just a slower cognition sometimes and may need a little bit of help remembering short term things. Still enjoy reading, keeping up on the news and learning new things when the opportunity presents itself!
  • Late Adulthood 3

    Psychosocial - Retired from work, and enjoying spending time with my husband, children and grandchildren. Spending my retirement traveling and site seeing with my family as much as possible. Very active in my grandchildrens' lives, attending sporting events and school activities. Also spend some time volunteering at the local hospital checking patients in to remain active in the community and spend time socializing with others.
  • Death of Husband

    My husband has died of natural causes. It's not easy to cope with death, but I am doing the best that I can. Spending a lot of my time at the local church and with my family. I know that I will be reunited with him some day which makes things a little bit easier. Currently living independently at my house, no major health issues, just general aging process.
  • Death

    Passed away, age 94, died of natural causes, peacefully at home in my own bed.
